We typically use quality acrylic paint for adult classes. The paint does not easily wash out of clothing no matter what the manufacturer says! We will provide an apron for you to use but accidents happen. We suggest you bring a change of clothes if you are coming from work. Otherwise, wear something that will not make you heart-broken if you get paint on it. Short sleeves are a good choice.
Our children’s paint sessions use paint with less pigment and is more likely to wash out. It depends on the color and the speed at which we attempt removal. Please don’t send your children in good clothes! Unfortunately, the pretty pink party dress isn’t appropriate attire.
The Bottled Artist is a company formed by people who care about giving back to our community and who financially support non-profit organizations with their time, efforts and money. The success of The Bottled Artist will be shared by the causes for which we support.
With our Mission and Values to guide us, we formed the “Create for a Cause” program. We want to practice the “Art of Giving”. We are not unique in having hardship and loss in our lives. When you reserve a seat at one of our events, you will be asked which of four charitable areas you want to support. When we make our donations to non-profit organizations at the end of the year, we will do so with your wishes in mind. You can choose: Cancer Research and Support, Child Welfare and Education, Animal Welfare and the Arts. Or you can let us choose for you. (We couldn’t agree on one area either.) It doesn’t cost you anything more than the event fee. Ultimately though, our profits come from you and we want to honor your passions too.
During public events, our artists lead guests through the featured artwork. You are always free to paint whatever you want or change the featured painting with your own colors and composition. Unlike many of our competitors, we always offer a full palette–red, blue, yellow, black, and white–so that you can paint whatever you like or change the colors to reflect the decor in your home. We can’t guarantee that our artist can help you much if you are doing an individual project but they will be happy to consult if they have time. We always like to see what people create.
If you see a painting in our portfolio that you would like to paint, or have an idea for one you would like us to develop, please let us know. We can get our paintings in the rotation more quickly. If you book a private party, YOU choose the artwork. Painting something relevant to your group is always more fun. We have much artwork not available for viewing online so let us know what you are interested in seeing.
We travel within 30 miles from downtown Fort Wayne, IN and Muncie, IN free of charge. We also travel around St. Louis and West County at no charge. Fees for travel vary depending on the size of the event, the distance we have to drive, and how much staff is required. Please ask. We want to do your event!
We want you happy with the finished product. We also want your experience with us to be stress-free. Our events are supposed to be fun and relaxing. It’s rare that our guests don’t finish a painting in the allotted time. We have a solution to keep the stress level low. If the pace is too fast for you, you can always bring your painting to another public event for which we have space. We’ll help you finish your painting or fix it free of charge! Once our studio is open, we will also have open studio hours and a monthly “fix or finish” event with our artists. Email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Most public events are two hours long. Some are three hours. Please look at the event detail in the event calendar to see the length of the class. We start promptly at the start time so get there at least 15 minutes early!
Darn. We may be missing an opportunity to paint with you if you are asking this question. Our tickets are fully refundable up to 1 hour in advance of an event. We ask that you cancel by email at: email@example.com as soon as you know that you will be unable to attend. You can get a refund or credit for another class. We do not give refunds to guests who do not show up for an event or who do not cancel at least an hour in advance. We don’t like to see this happen but we incur the expense for your seat–our artists, like musical artists at a concert, have already been booked and our staff scheduled based upon the number of guest reservations. They begin preparing your work station an hour before the event starts. Please try to send someone in your place–just email us and let us know. Call us at 260-446-7767 if you have questions. This telephone number forwards to our cell phones after hours when we are at events.
We do all kinds of projects at The Bottled Artist. At our public painting events, we typically use a good quality, water-soluble acrylic paint. It’s an odorless paint safe for children and pregnant women. We like it because it dries quickly. The paint cleans up easily from non-porous surfaces but because we use a good quality paint with more pigment than the cheaper stuff, it can stain clothing. For children’s classes we use a paint with less pigment and more chances of getting it out of clothing. We provide aprons for protection.
There are many projects and mediums that we will use at The Bottled Artist. We don’t just paint on canvas. We will list any mediums that are different from acrylic on the detail of the event in the event calendar.
Since our studio is not yet open, our “office hours” are from 8:00am to 6:00pm but we answer our cell phone in the evenings when possible. We are often at mobile events and will try to return calls and emails as soon as possible. You can phone us at: 260-446-7767 (our cell) or email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We love children at The Bottled artist and allow them at most events during the day. The night, however, is reserved for adults. After a stressful day, adult sometimes need a child-free zone to unwind and relax. Classes beginning after 5PM are open only to those 16-years-old and older with some exceptions for special events designated for children and families. Please ensure that you have reserved an event that is deemed “child friendly” if bringing a child. If you arrive with a child under 16-years-old for an adult event, you will be asked to reschedule. There may be venues that require a guest to be over 21 years old. Exceptions will be noted on the event calendar.
The host of a private event will determine if children can or cannot attend the event IF it is a child-friendly subject. We don’t allow children under the age of 18 to paint nudes or be in a venue where a nude model is present. No exceptions.
(Wow, you really need to paint! We’re glad you are coming!) We can usually catch you up if you arrive for the party within 30 minutes. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, we’ll try to get you caught up. We can’t extend our class time to allow for you to complete your work BUT—good news—you can always come to any other public event for which we have space to finish your painting or fix it at no charge! Email us at: email@example.com if you’re running late. We’ll be watching for you.
Your ticket is fully refundable up to 48 hours prior to the event. If you need to cancel your event ticket, you MUST contact us via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not provide refunds or credits on event tickets cancelled less than 48-hours in advance of the event. There are no refunds or rescheduling for partial use or no shows. If you have cancelled at least 48 hours in advance, you can elect to get a refund or apply your ticket price to another event. Please let us know as soon as you know. We schedule our artists and staff according to how many guests attend each event.
The cancellation policies are different for private parties.
It’s easy to sign up. Click here on Event Calendar. A calendar will be displayed with the featured paintings being taught on each day. Select which painting that you would like to paint. Click the painting and get more information about the time and location. Pay careful attention to where the event is being held, if beer, wine and food are available for purchase, and if children are allowed at the event. Follow the easy on-screen directions to complete the order. If you need help, contact us at 260-446-7767 and we will walk you through the process.
Indiana: For our public parties, Indiana law does not allow anyone to bring their own alcohol to a public place. That restriction includes our studio or restaurant venues. Unless otherwise stated, beer and wine is available for sale. You can find additional information by clicking the painting on the class schedule. The law is different for private events. If you are booking a private event, please discuss this with our event coordinator.
Missouri: For our Missouri locations, the law allows people to bring their own alcohol to the studio. Our individual event locations or restaurants may have restrictions that would require you to purchase their alcohol. Information pertaining to each venue can be found by clicking the painting on the class schedule.
We want you to have fun with your friends and will do everything possible to ensure you can sit together. It’s usually not a problem if we know in advance. To ensure we do our best to get people together, our seating is reserved. When you make your reservation put the names of others in your group and the number of people who will be attending in the remarks line of the reservation. Make sure that we are aware of anyone in your group who reserved classes at different times. You can always call or email us in advance of the class and we will try to accommodate your request.
Our fee includes the setup, cleanup, all art materials, use of brushes and an apron, and hands-on art instruction. At the end of the class each guest will have a “wall-worthy” piece of art to take home. Food and alcohol is available for purchase at our studio or at the venue unless stated otherwise on our calendar. If you want to purchase food, we ask that you come a half an hour prior to the start of class if possible to enjoy the meal or appetizers prior to class. It’s okay if you can’t, it’s hard to paint and eat at the same time. Alcohol and other drinks are available for purchase throughout the class.
Fees are typically $35 for a two-hour event and $45 for a three-hour event. Some of our fundraising or special events may be slightly more. The Bottled Artist does not limit our customers to painting on canvas so there may be times when the costs vary. There are also more difficult paintings , like our pet portrait painting sessions for example, in which our artist renders a line drawing of each participants pet on a canvas in advance. Please read the event calendar for more information for individual inclusions or add-ons. The cost will be clearly stated there.
